Standing Still

Every Thursday, they met at the Still Museum for lunch, surrounded by the towering abstracts that spoke of a world beyond words. He was in love with her, though he never said it aloud, content to watch her eyes light up as she talked about her latest piece, her focus always on the colors, the lines, the next big show. She stood still in her pursuit of art, while he stood still in his quiet, unspoken affection, each of them anchored in their own way—her by her ambition, him by the hope that one day she might see him in the same light she saw her work.
